A late fall planting of arugula

A late fall planting of arugula

Varieties grown: Esmee, Ice-Bred

Arugula is a tender green in the brassica family. Its flavor can be described as nutty, spicy, peppery, and lemony. Some people do not appreciate how pungent it tastes; if this is you, we recommend cooking arugula—it tempers the flavor and allows other ingredients to shine.

How to use it:

  • Raw in salads and on sandwiches

  • In pesto as a replacement for basil and other herbs

  • Sauteed with garlic and olive oil

  • Added to soups at the end of cooking time

How to store it: In the refrigerator, inside a non-breathable container (plastic bag, glass or plastic storage tub, etc.)
